Mareeba Heritage Museum displays the varied history and beauty around Mareeba, and like some other heritage centres, it also operates as the Mareeba Visitor Information Centre.
The visitor information centre can provide you with local knowledge of surrounding attractions and points of interest. There are quite a few brown signs around Mareeba and as a coffee plantation area, there are three brown signs for coffee alone.
The museum has the same opening times as the visitor centre, however, the last entry is 30 minutes before closing time.
The museum showcases the industries and life in the earlier days of Mareeba, recognising the influences of Aboriginal people, explorers and pioneers, multiculturalism, and the First and Second World Wars.
Mareeba Heritage Museum boasts a collection of over 6,000 items that have been used and donated by members of the community. The collection is displayed in over 45 exhibits and presented in themed buildings and structures.
