Gerrard’s Lookout, shown on the brown signs as Scenic Lookout, is along the Maleny-Montville Rd on the Blackall Range near Montville and looks east off the range towards the coast.
A shelter has a couple of tables and seating at either end, suitable for having a break with some stunning views.
A plaque near the shelter shows the land was donated by Hazel and Charlie Gerrard for the enjoyment of the public, and the plaque itself was donated by the MacIntyre family. The plaque shows the direction and distance to areas out from the view, such as Noosa Heads, Mooloolaba, and Caloundra.
Further south on the range near Maleny is McCarthys Lookout , which also looks east off the range in line with the Glasshouse Mountains adding to the view. The view from Gerrard’s Lookout is beautiful, and being more or less right on the roadway it is certainly worth stopping at. McCarthys Lookout, however, does offer more interest with the view including the Glasshouse Mountains.
To get there:
From Steve Irwin Way in Landsborough, turn into Railway St, and after 300m turn left into Maleny St and cross over the railway line. In 800m, continue straight ahead, through the roundabout into Landsborough Maleny Rd. The climb is steep for a few kilometres, and after 9.7km, turn right into Maleny-Montville Rd. Continue for another 4.8km, and the parking for Scenic Lookout (Gerrard’s Lookout) is on the right.
