The Mungalli Falls Village is an outdoor education centre, the only privately-owned World Heritage listed waterfall in Queensland. Despite being privately owned, the owners are happy for visitors to view the waterfalls without charge.
There are three levels or tiers of the Mungalli Falls, the first viewable from near the village cafe. The first tier is a wide-set cascade waterfall over a rocky drop from where the road crosses the water. The cascade nature of the waterfall makes it more unique to other waterfalls in the area, such as those found in the nearby Waterfalls Circuit .
There is a walk down to the bottom of the main drop with a swimming waterhole at the base, talking around 45 minutes return, plus swimming time. We had already expended too much time at the Mungalli Dairy so we didn’t take the walk to the bottom but there is a viewing platform to look at the falls from the top before heading down.
