Wildlife Habitat | Brown Signs

Located just off the highway heading into Port Douglas, the Wildlife Habitat is also the Wet Tropics Visitor Information Centre.

Experience Australian wildlife in an award-winning and eco-certified sanctuary for wildlife. The habitat contains five recreated natural environments, including Wetlands, Rainforest, Savannah, Nocturnal, and Woodlands.

Park Packages

A package can be purchased providing access to multiple attractions within the group Wildlife Habitat is in. Wildlife Habitat is the furthest from the others in Cairns and around Kunundra.

Rainforestation

Rainforestation Nature Park combines Indigenous culture, Australian wildlife, and rainforest of the Wet Tropics. Established in 1974, the park is on 100 acres of World Heritage Rainforest.

Australian Butterfly Sanctuary

The Australian Butterfly Sanctuary is the largest butterfly flight aviary and exhibit in the Southern Hemisphere. Started in 1987, the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary won the Guinness World Record for the largest butterfly farm in the world.

Cairns Zoom and Wildlife Dome

Contained in a wildlife park, Cairns Dome is a ropes course with over 65 challenges, 3 ziplines, power jump, and an external viewing walkway.

To Get There

From Mossman, head south on Captain Cook Hwy and follow for just over 11km. Turn left at the roundabout following the brown sign for Wet Tropics Visitor Information Centre. Take the first left 150m after the roundabout, then turn right into the car park for the visitor information centre and Wildlife Habitat.

From Palm Cove, head out to Captain Cook Hwy and turn right and follow for just over 36km. Turn right at the roundabout following the brown sign for Wet Tropics Visitor Information Centre.
