Hebel is a small town near the border of Queensland and New South Wales, between Lightning Ridge and St George.
Driving through, it is easy to miss the history of Hebel, something I did many years ago. Now there is a brown sign marking the Hebel Historical Circle to highlight the interesting history this small town has.
The Hebel Historical Circle is an art display, consisting of ten tall timber posts accompanied by information signs. Each sign tells a story of or near Hebel, such as the Ned Kelly gang or the Cobb & Co coaches.
Across the road is the Hebel Hotel where you can get a hot meal and a cold drink. Stay overnight with free camping (buy a beer or a meal in return) or reside in one of the self-contained cabins.
