Mt Coot-tha Library is on the grounds of the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, specialising in botany, gardening, and landscape design. The collection is valuable to researchers in these fields.
Other subject areas include botanic illustration, conservation, herbal medicine, astronomy, floral art, and natural history.
The library has a regular storytime in the gardens for young kids 2-5yrs on Tuesdays between 9.30am-10am. It is a free event and doesn’t require booking, held on the Fig Tree Lawn, or at the information centre during bad weather.
Other events are held throughout the year for other age groups through to adults. Some require booking and some have costs. Check the library’s events to find out what is on and any requirements to attend.
To get there:
The Library is in the Botanical Gardens along Mount Coot-tha Road at Toowong, west of the city of Brisbane. Coming along Milton Rd towards the Western Fwy. After the roundabout, continue ahead in the right lane and exit after about 200m, following the brown sign to the botanic gardens. At the next roundabout, take the exit to the right onto Mount Coot-tha Rd. After 550m, the entry to the botanical gardens and the library is on the left.
