Kanyana Park is a small park located about halfway between Nambour and Mapleton, at the top of the steep climb up the mountainside.
The park has views over Nambour through to the coast with the highrise buildings of the Sunshine Coast in the distance.
The name Kanyana is an Aboriginal name meaning meeting of people or gathering place.
There is a picnic table shelter with two tables and a small playground with swings. Toilets are between the parking area and the picnic tables.
A little further up the road is Dulong Lookout offering similar views but without the facilities.
To get there:
From the Bruce Hwy, take the exit for Mapleton (Exit 208) and follow the signs towards Nambour and Mapleton on the Nambour-Bli Bli Rd. Continue for 1km and cross straight ahead at the lights into National Park Rd. Follow for 6.9km becoming Netherton St then Nambour-Mapleton Rd. Turn left into Dulong Rd and Kanyana Park is 100m on the left.
From Mapleton Falls, head back out to the township of Mapleton, and turn left on Nambour-Mapleton Rd. Follow for 5.3km and turn right into Dulong Rd. Kanyana Park is 100m on the left.
