The Queensland Pioneer Steam Railway has a fleet of five locomotives, both steam powered and diesel electric. Two different carriage sets provide distinct experiences.
One is a vintage timber carriage set from as far back as 1880, including the last surviving prison carriage in Queensland. The other carriage set is from the 1950s, featuring air-conditioned carriages with onboard dining, bars, and compartment rooms with hot and cold running water.
Swanbank Station is staffed on days when trains are operational. The grounds can be accessed most days of the week, however the train tracks are out of bounds to visitors as it is an operating line and trains can come through unannounced.
Swanbank has been developed to include a large green space, the Education Carriage and a souvenir shop area within the Station building.
The station shop and education carriage are also open by appointment.
