This is a historic precinct set in the old ‘Cardwell Telegraph and Post Office’ (now known as the Bush Telegraph) which was built in 1870 and is one of the oldest buildings in North Queensland.

To Get There
The Gawler Visitor Information Centre is on the main road heading east towards the Barossa Valley. From other directions, the visitor centre is off the main thoroughfare as they bypass the centre of Gawler.
If heading west into Gawler on Barossa Valley Way, you will cross over a railway line. Continue for 2.4km becoming Lyndoch Rd and turn right into Union St. The drive entry is immediately on the left. You cannot turn into the entry from Lyndoch Rd, so ensure you turn into Union St before it.
If heading south towards Gawler on Thiele Hwy, follow it to the end and turn left onto Horrocks Hwy, and follow the Horrocks Hwy directions.
If heading south towards Gawler on Horrocks Hwy, you will cross under the Sturt Highway. Continue on Horrocks Hwy (Main North Road) for 3.2km and turn left into Barossa Valley Way (Lyndoch Rd) with the brown sign towards Barossa Valley. The entry is 80m on the left.
If heading south towards Gawler on Sturt Hwy, take the B82 exit onto Horrocks Hwy after passing a brown sign for Gawler Attractions. Head left at the end of the exit and follow Main North Road (Horrocks Hwy) for 3.1km. Turn left into Barossa Valley Way (Lyndoch Rd) with the brown sign towards Barossa Valley. The entry is 80m on the left.
If heading north towards Gawler on Northern Exp, continue north where Northern Exp merges with Sturt Hwy. After passing a brown sign for Gawler Attractions, take the second exit B82 for Horrocks Hwy, then turn right onto Main North Rd. Follow Main North Road (Horrocks Hwy) for 3.3km and turn left into Barossa Valley Way (Lyndoch Rd) with the brown sign towards Barossa Valley. The entry is 80m on the left.
If heading north towards Gawler on Main North Rd, take the B19 exit onto Main North Rd towards Gawler Town Centre. Follow Main North Rd (Horrocks Hwy) for 3.3km. At the roundabout, take the second exit and continue on for another 1.5km. Turn right onto Barossa Valley Way (Lyndoch Rd) towards Lyndoch. The entry is 80m on the left.
